Suddenly I'm getting 50-60... sometimes 80-90 percent CPU usage when GoogleEarthk, FireFox, Chrome, or IE7 are active. For instance, the link I'm trying right now is http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/home_improvement And I'm getting 50-70% CPU usage with the screen just sitting there under FireFox. That page has a video embedded in it, but I've clicked the "Pause" button. I guess this doesn't address GoogleEarth.... but that app also has begun bringing my P4/Windows XP system to it's knees. Can anybody suggest an explanation? -- PeteCresswell |

Try reviewing the task manager to see which applications/services are using all the CPU load. Matt -- The Probert Encyclopaedia - The Reliable Encyclopaedia http://www.probertencyclopaedia.com |

P4 machines are very, very out of date. Flash is a multimedia authoring tool that requires a fairly modern computer (especially Flash 9). GoogleEarth (the newer versions) also use very large textures, so if you have an old video card and slow CPU it'll be very slow. |

Flash is good when you *need* it.
