Thought I'd toss this out here to some higher minds: A friend has a machine running Windoze XP (SP3 I believe) with multiple identities set up. On one of the 'identities', which has admin rights, IE7 will not display stylesheets or background images. IE7 behaves properly with all other a'identities' on that machine. I've reset to mfg defaults, tried numerous combinations of stuff short of tin-knocking the windoze registry, all to no avail. Next step is to delete that user account and make another for her. I'd rather not do that, for all the obvious reasons. Anyone have any idea what may be going on? cheers - M -- # http://www.nofccainway.com # nofccainway@_your_clothes_nofccainway.com # remove _your_clothes_ when emailing me # d o n ' t b e l i e v e e v e r y t h i n g y o u t h i n k |

If it's higher privs, it might be a means to protect them from IE security holes. Otherwise, provided the settings are the same, I can't imagine why it wouldn't work for that one user. I'd assume something, somewhere, must be different, even if it's not immediately noticeable (Sorry, I guess that's obvious). -- Tim Greer, CEO/Founder/CTO, BurlyHost.com, Inc. On 29 Sep 2008, Tim Greer barged into alt.www.webmaster and uttered:

I thought of that. I set up another admin user (me), and IE worked fine. That's when I figured I'd ask higher minds. ;-) > Otherwise, provided the settings are the same, I > can't imagine why it wouldn't work for that one user. It's got me puzzled, too. > I'd assume something, somewhere, must be different, even if it's not > immediately noticeable (Sorry, I guess that's obvious). That's why I'm thinking it's something in the Windows registry that can be toggled - I just don't know what. thanks for trying - Matt -- # http://www.nofccainway.com # nofccainway@_your_clothes_nofccainway.com # remove _your_clothes_ when emailing me # d o n ' t b e l i e v e e v e r y t h i n g y o u t h i n k |
